| Narrative: | On the above date and time, officers of the Brooksville Police Department responded to the area of McDonald’s on S. Broad Street in reference to a report of a drunk driver. An off duty Hernando County Sheriff’s Deputy observed a black Volvo driving recklessly in the area and called dispatch. The officer located the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop on it in the area of S. Broad Street and Candlelight Blvd. Officers then made contact with the driver, Jimmie Ray Rodgers, who was visually impaired. Rodgers was given field sobriety exercises which he performed poorly. He was arrested for DUI and transported to the Hernando County Jail. At the jail, Rodgers was given the opportunity to give a test of his breath, which he refused. A computer check revealed a prior conviction of DUI and refusal to submit. He was booked into the Hernando County Jail on $750.00 bond. The vehicle Rodgers was driving was impounded and stored at the Brooksville Police Department. |
