| Comments: | According to official documents, Novy plead guilty on December 3, 1998, to Child Molestation 2nd degree, Rape of a Child 3rd degree and Child Molestation 3rd degree. He was sentenced to a concurrent sentence of 57 months in prison. Novy disclosed his crime to a pastor and a counselor. He was in the process of obtaining help for his crime when the investigation began by the police. Novy owned and operated a Tae Kwon Do school in Arlington, Washington. Over a lengthy period of time Novy groomed and sexually assaulted three of his adolescent female students. Victims were from ages 13 to 16 during the time of the offenses. The 13 year-old victim was groomed for 2 years before she was assaulted. These assaults included fondling one victim on three different occasions. The assault of the 2nd victim included fondling her and continued grooming behavior culminating in continued sexual intercourse. The 3rd victim included forcing himself against her and telling her he wanted to have sex with her. In addition to his child victims, Novy employed the same manipulative behaviors to elicit sexual contact with adult females who frequented his facility. Novy used his position as instructor and mentor to groom his victims. His grooming and assaultive behaviors were planned, intentional, and persistent. Novy has participated in the sexual offender treatment program while incarcerated and also participated in numerous self-improvement programs. Novy remained infraction free while in prison. Novy is no longer has any conditions except to register which he has done. |
