| Comments: | Sex offenders have always lived in our communities; but it was not until passage of the community protection act of 1990 (which mandates sex offender registration) that law enforcement even knew where they were living. In many cases, law enforcement is not able to share that information with you. Citizen abuse of this information to threaten, intimidate or harass registered sex offenders will not be tolerated. Further, such abuse could potentially end law enforcement's ability to do community notifications. We believe the only person who wins if community notification ends is the sex offender, since sex offenders drive their power through secrecy. In 2005, PETERSON was convicted of Assault 3rd Degree of a Child with Sexual Motivation in Pierce County. According to official file documents, PETERSON sexually assaulted a 5 year old non-familial female. PETERSON participated, but failed to complete his Sex Offender Treatment Program. In 2007 PETERSON pled Guilty to an amended charge of Assault 2nd degree after he sexually assaulted a 21 year old female he had met earlier the same day. In 2010, PETERSON was convicted of Child Molestation 3rd degree in Pierce County. According to official file documents PETERSON had sexual contact with a 15 year old non-familial female. Due to his sexual criminal history, PETERSON has been deemed a LEVEL 3 SEX OFFENDER. PETERSON was released from the Special Commitment Center, McNiel Island on 5-26-2015.
