| Comments: | Sex offenders have always lived in our communities; but it was not until passage of the community protection act of 1990 (which mandates sex offender registration) that law enforcement even knew where they were living. In many cases, law enforcement is not able to share that information with you. Citizen abuse of this information to threaten, intimidate or harass registered sex offenders will not be tolerated. Further, such abuse could potentially end law enforcement's ability to do community notifications. We believe the only person who wins if community notification ends is the sex offender, since sex offenders drive their power through secrecy. According to official documents, Wright was found guilty by jury trial on August 21, 2000 and was given a term of 180 months in prison. The victim in this crime was a known 37 year old female. The victim woke up when she heard someone coming into her bedroom at 5am. The victim keeps her door locked and a key was needed. Wright sat on the side of her bed and had the barrel of a gun poking out of his pants pocket. Wright told the victim he was going to have sex and it was going to happen. Wright stated that if the victim's daughter woke up he would hurt her. The victim submitted to the sex act as she did not want her daughter hurt. Wright admitted that he broke into the victim's home and did not intent to hurt anyone as the weapon that he had did not work. He was convicted by jury trial. Wright attended treatment, but due to lack of progress was terminated. He again entered treatment in March of 2013 and was making progress when he was transferred to another prison due to him being a security risk.
