| Narrative: | The Brooksville Police Department Patrol Division responded to the area of N. Broad St and Mt Fair Ave in reference to a hit and run traffic crash that just occurred. Upon arrival of units a single vehicle was found in the wood line on the west side of the roadway. Units were also receiving information from dispatch of a reckless driver in the area of Hernando High School dragging something from the front of the vehicle. A Brooksville Police Officer located the vehicle in the secured area of the high school stopped in the bus loop. Contact was made with the sole occupant and driver Patricia Eppley. During this contact the officer could smell a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage emitting from Eppley. During the traffic crash investigation it was found that Eppley was traveling northbound on Broad street near Mt. Fair. Ave. Eppley crossed the center line of the roadway striking a vehicle traveling south bound. This caused that vehicle to lose control and travel off the roadway into a wooded area striking a tree. A witness to the crash followed Eppley to the Hernando High School lot. A DUI investigation was conducted with Eppley at which time she failed several field sobriety tests. Eppley was taken into custody for DUI with property damage and leaving the scene of a crash with property damage. While at the Hernando County Jail Eppley did provide a sample of her breath to determine its alcoholic content. The results were a B.A.C of .062 and .061. A DUI Urine sample was also collected from Eppley and will be sent to FDLE for further analysis. Eppley was held at the Hernando County Jail under a $750.00 bond. |
