| Comments: | BRYANT, Thomas Wayne In 1994, Subject BRYANT was convicted of Rape 1st Degree. BRYANT (age 29) abducted and sexually assaulted a 10 year old female victim that was a stranger to BRYANT. The victim had got off her school bus and was riding her bicycle from the area and heading for home. BRYANT followed the victim in his vehicle and then drove up and stopped by the victim. BRYANT got out of the vehicle and told the victim that he had just been stung by a bee and asked the victim where the nearest hospital was located. The victim told him she didn't know and started to ride off. BRYANT grabbed the victim and forced her into his vehicle. The victim attempted to jump out of the vehicle, but BRYANT restrained her. BRYANT took the victim to a secluded area and asked the victim, 'Do you want to live'' and 'Do you want to see your parents again'' BRYANT then removed the victim's clothing and sexually assaulted her. He also made her perform oral sex on him. During the assault the victim noticed that BRYANT appeared to have a shoulder holster containing a handgun underneath the vest that he was wearing. After the assault, BRYANT took the victim back to the location where he had abducted her and let her go. BRYANT was originally charged with Rape of a Child 1st Degree and Kidnapping 1st Degree and he later pled to the one count of Rape 1st Degree. In 1992, BRYANT was the suspect in two suspicious activities. In the first incident, BRYANT had been seen following a female in his vehicle and it was reported that he was armed with a revolver type handgun during that incident. The second incident involved BRYANT being identified as the suspect attempting to pick up a minor aged female in his vehicle while she was waiting for her bus. No criminal charges were filed in these incidents. In 1993, BRYANT was contacted by police after he had been seen acting suspiciously and hiding in a wooded area. When contacted by the police, BRYANT had a paper bag containing pornography, two ropes, and a flashlight. BRYANT's criminal history includes the following crimes; 1982 Possession of Stolen Property 3rd Degree, 1983 Possession of Marijuana, 1992 Indecent Exposure, 1992 Theft 3rd Degree, and 1993 Possession of Marijuana, Fish/Game Violation. BRYANT declined to participate in the Sex Offender Treatment Program during his incarceration. BRYANT has indicated that he is currently involved in community based treatment. At this time, he is NOT under supervision by the Washington State Department of Corrections. Due to BRYANT's sexual criminal history, he has been classified as a LEVEL 3 Sex Offender. This allows the Pierce County Sheriff's Department to disclose relevant, necessary, and accurate information to the public at large. This current notification is being done because BRYANT has recently moved from Thurston County and moved to an area in Pierce County. Sex Offender registration laws allow for the tracking of sexual offenders. It does not control the location of where an offender chooses to live. |
