| Comments: | According to official documents Babst pled guilty in Riverside County California Superior Court on 05/16/2007 to one count of Attempted Lewd Act with a Child Under 14 years old and one count of Possess Obscene matter depicting Child under 14. He was sentenced to 365 days in custody and 60 months of formal probation. These convictions were the result of Babst attempting to meet the unknown 12 year old female victim that he met online. The victim was actually acting in an undercover capacity as a part of Dateline To Catch a Predator. This sting operation was conducted by the Riverside County Sheriff's Department. After having explicit computer chat with the victim Babst agreed to meet the victim at her home for the purpose of sexually assaulting her. When Babst arrived at the residence he was arrested. Subsequent to this arrest search warrants were executed at Babst's residence and place of employment. It should be noted that at the time Babst was a high school teacher. A forensic analysis of Babst's computers located over 200 photographs and videos of child pornography. Babst did not participate in sex offender treatment. Babst is NOT ON active supervision at this time and his only requirement is to register as a sex offender. His probation was closed on 6-16-2011 by Riverside County, California |
